Chloé’s Curls

I remember the day Chloé asked, "Mom, are you black and is Daddy, white... so, what am I?" This took the oxygen completely out of my lungs. She was three years old. You see, earlier that morning our family attended her preschool's Christmas program. Her classmates noticed that her family looked different from theirs so they became curious and wanted to know why. To this day, I wish I could have been with Chloé as her classmates inquired. (I wish I could have been there to console her, to go through the moment with her.) This is why I wrote Chloé's Curls, to answer my daughter's question. She is white. She is black. She is beautiful! May Chloés story inspire children to believe that they are wonderfully created and full of purpose-no matter their skin color or hair texture. I share haircare tips within the story as well!
